I think that the barriers he put on the path will be broken down by the villagers who use the path. I think this because it was said that the path is considered a ritual to some and it has been used to visit the cemetery for a very long time. They believe that the path connects them to those who have passed away. The path is important to them so I think they will not tolerate it being closed off.
I think that you did a very good job predicting. Maybe it should have better word choice. But I think you did a good job with not being to lengthy.
